Headteacher's Introduction

This is a school where academic success is combined with developing well-rounded, happy, resilient learners who are ready for the challenges and opportunities in their future.

Whether students are new to Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls or have been with us since Year 7, the Sixth Form provides a happy and supportive environment in which all can achieve their academic potential, develop their existing skills and discover new talents. Students are supported in making the transition from GCSE to A-level study and provided with personalised advice and guidance as they make the exciting decisions about the next step in their future.

From a choice of 19 subjects, students will study three linear A-Levels and in Year 12 they can complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). There is also the opportunity for students to take a fourth A-level. We provide weekly careers and academic skills lessons which help students adapt to the demands of A-level study and support them in making informed choices about the next stage in their lives.

Alongside academic study there are numerous extra-curricular opportunities to enable students to enhance their wider skills (and help with their UCAS application or CV). They could get involved with Gold DofE, mentoring younger students, politics society, medsoc, fitness Fridays, volunteering, orchestra, gospel choir, the school musical and develop their leadership skills by becoming a Senior Student Ambassador or a Prefect. There are residential trips to CERN, Amsterdam and World Challenge visits to Africa, China and Tanzania.

Our students achieve fantastic examination results and go on to study at a variety of universities both in the UK and abroad; secure places on competitive apprenticeships and management programmes and explore the world whilst travelling during their gap years. If you would like to find out more about the Sixth Form at Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls, please attend our open evening or contact the school to discuss the next opportunity to visit. I look forward to meeting you.
