Dunfield House String Camp
Year 9 student, Anna, tells us about her first trip to the Dunfield House String Camp
I went to Dunfield House this year for the first time. Dunfield is a string camp run by the Birmingham Suzuki Association in a beautiful area of Hertfordshire where all you can see is mountains and forests.
At Dunfield, you wake up fairly early and have different sessions of practising to prepare for the concert at the end: a group piece with quite a few players your level and age, an orchestra, and a quartet, as well as the chance to learn the steel pans.
You also do a solo on one of the evenings in front of everyone, which feels scary, but it’s a great experience. I love all the teachers and the atmosphere is all so friendly, especially as three other girls from Sutton Girls also attended. I have only known the new people I met for 3 days and I don’t think I have laughed so much and so hard.
I highly recommend it and loved it so much!
